The relief wasn’t what I expected. That Trump got the boot was exhilarating, for sure, but the thrill I’d looked forward to was dulled by the unpredictability of a Pit Bull that’s been cornered. A child is still in the White House, and who knows what havoc he’ll conger up in the next two months. Uncertainty is always so nerve-wracking and I worry.
But maybe I’m worrying about nothing. Maybe with an adult in charge, the kids in the sandbox will settle down. One can only hope.
The important thing is getting that tweeter out of there (more like TOTUS than POTUS). The bonus of having a young, intelligent, confident, black woman as veep for the next four years is unique and thrilling for me. Kamala Harris seems a perfect balance to Biden’s age and experience. My dream is that team Biden/Harris will knock some humanity into our lawmakers so they can start caring about those of us who elected them.
Everything’s bound to get better with the new guy in charge, and inauguration in Jan. isn’t that far off. Meanwhile, I’ll try to b-r-e-a-t-h-e through the tantrums of the 3-yr-old lame duck in the White House.
Weeded out this week: I’d like to say White House Worry but… it ain’t over ’til it’s over. This election did weed out a little chunk of anxiety from my jittery mind. And every chunk counts.
