“The best thing about Father’s Day is when your children notice you.” Wow, my husband’s comment about Father’s Day nailed the bottom line. It seems like most men get pretty good at hiding their emotions, but I’m pretty sure they want the same thing as moms do: to know that they matter to the children in their lives. (How could the kids not notice a dad who would pose in such a fine pair of pajama bottoms!)
The best gift of all was spending time together, but that wasn’t really possible after the kids started living on their own. Nowadays, a simple phone call starts this day on just right. Amazing what a five minute conversation can do! Just knowing that his children, no matter what their ages, are thinking about him always means the world.
Dads with kids still at home are so lucky, they get to celebrate in the flesh this Sunday.
